This year YouTube will broadcast 60 IPL matches Live in a dedicated channel. Both parties recently signed an agreement to make that possible. With this Google gets 2 years long authority of displaying IPL online. The streaming will be free of charge for the viewers. It will be available all over the world except USA. Both parties will share revenues from advertisement. This will be a big step for both the parties. And it adds another dimension to online broadcasting services. Now even UK viewers also enjoy IPL with their internet connection which is not available in their TV services.

The good thing is viewers can pause, Fast forward, rewind the live feed if they wish to do that. They will also be able to watch replays all day long, which is not possible in TV.

Last July Google announced to make Google Chrome OS, an open source operating system for internet loving users. Today Google announced to open-sourcing the project as Chromium OS. It’s almost a year before the final version released.

In Google Language:

“Today we are open-sourcing the project as Chromium OS. We are doing this early, a year before Google Chrome OS will be ready for users, because we are eager to engage with partners, the open source community and developers. As with the Google Chrome browser, development will be done in the open from this point on. This means the code is free, accessible to anyone and open for contributions. The Chromium OS project includes our current code base, user interface experiments and some initial designs for ongoing development. This is the initial sketch and we will color it in over the course of the next year.”

Google also posted a video:

Google Labs has a new tool to share , called ” Google Squared “. This new searching tool from Google gives results by searching and showing them in spreadsheet format, in rows and columns. This tool removes the untidy form of getting search results and gives it a gentle looks. It enhanced your searching by giving a comparison oriented search. This can be used as a product search. It can give various kinds of useful information in search results unlike traditional one who just show links of related keywords. By releasing this tool Google gives a very tough competition to “Wolfram Alpha ‘. But Squared is better than that because it shows results direct from the web where “Wolfram Alpha” uses it’s database to do so. You can check out the video below.

Last August news broke out that Google was working on its search engine’s new version. The secret project “Google Caffeine” wouldn’t change the face or design of the Google search engine, but would instead provide an overhaul of the architecture of Google’s web search that would improve its working style with good indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and more.

After that there was a long silent from Google on this topic. It’s quietly been undergoing testing and tweaking. That’s all changing though, as now the developer preview of Google Caffeine has been taken down, replaced with an announcement that Google Caffeine will go live in its first data center soon.

The new Caffeine splash page shows text:

“Based on the success we’ve seen, we believe Caffeine is ready for a larger audience. Soon we will activate Caffeine more widely, beginning with one data center. This sandbox is no longer necessary and has been retired, but we appreciate the testing and positive input that webmasters and publishers have given. ”

It seams that the project is successful and ready to use. You can check out the page here. Or try out the video below.
