Maverick Meerkat , the Ubnutu 10.10 !

The next version of ubuntu will be known as Maverick Meerkat and Ubuntu 10.10 as well. Like always it will be released on October 2010. Mark Shuttleworth of Ubuntu , announced the name on his blog. He says: “It’s time to put our heads together to envision “the perfect 10?. This is a time of great innovation and change in the Linux world, with major new initiatives from powerful groups bringing lots of new ideas, new energy and new code.”
The ubuntu developing team is now focusing on Ubuntu 10.10 as the Ubuntu 10.04 is now ready to release. Ubuntu 10.04 will released on 29 April 2010. The new “social flavor” of Ubuntu will get matured in Ubuntu 10.10. Ubuntu Developers focusing on a much light and user friendly Ubuntu. They also have plans to release a new “Netbook” edition for Ubuntu. This decision will really become a benchmark for the product, because sells of Netbooks is increasing very fast. From Mark Shuttleworth’s blog is also quiet clear that Ubuntu is now trying to reach millions of users using some pirated Windows OS because of some unwanted problems like different interface and different working styles. As GNOME 3 is being introduced in Ubuntu 10.10 seems many more will be attracted to this awesome Open Source OS.

“Image Resizer” is an awesome tool for resizing mass images at a time. Every blogger and web developer needs to resize images very frequently. There are tool for this job , but some of them are really disappointing. “Image Resizer” is an very good tool for this purpose. good news is it’s an Open source tool ! Actually it’s a clone of popular Windows tool Powertoy . But it also works on Windows Vista and Seven.
It’s working policy is really simple.
Just select mass number of images. Then click the right button of the mouse and select “Resize Pictures”. A new window will appear, provide necessary data and click on “OK”. That’s it.
Firefox 3.6 Final Version is now Alive

VLC developers working on VideoLAN Movie Creator

The VideoLan developers are now woring on thier new project VideoLAN Movie Creator after a very successful software VLC Player. This tool is also Open source. It also will be available for multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, and Ubuntu. Another good news is, It will have easy interface so that anyone can use it and perform their task easily than other software. But It is not ready yet. They are trying heart and soul to bring the best to the customers.

What's new in UBUNTU 10.04 ?

The new Ubuntu is coming in April, 2010. There are lots of expectation about the new OS. Let’s have a look what new things will be in Ubuntu 10.04.
Me Menu : This is the most hottest feature of new Ubuntu. It will be the one stop service center of all Social networking and instant messaging services. This menu is specially designed by Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth. Gwibber and Empathy is being integrated to it for great Instant messaging and microblogging experience.
Booting Menu: It can have a new Graphical Boot Menu. It can be end of age old text based booting menu.
Ubuntu Software Center: The Ubuntu Software Center , introduced in 9.10 , will get higher standers in 10.04. It can also repalce the Gdebi, Synapth and Update Manager.
Update: Updating when shutdown in going on was to come in 9.10. But It didn’t. Now It is coimg in 10.04.
Speed: The 10.04 will be able to boot in less than 10 seconds in some machines.
What will not be in 10.04 : Gnome-3 will not be in 10.04. We have to satisfied with Gnome-2.
The new Ubuntu will add a plus point in open Source Computing, It’s sure. It’s also be a LTS (Long time support) edition. Desktop edition will have 3 years of supports, when Server will have 5 years.

Open Source products are always the best of the best. Today we will share a tool that can hide your image files by converting them into password protected executable files ! This software is very easy to use. No need to install it. Just download the tiny software (only 8 kb !) run the exe file, go to File > Open , then select your chosen picture. Then go to File > Save as , save it in desired palce and give it a password. Now nobody will be able to open the image without your password. That’s the magic of Open Source…..
