Virus Total is a great online file scanning tool. You can scan your files for free with this free tool. It will check the file properly and will tell you it is safe or not. There are multiple ways to upload a file for scanning process. You can upload from their site, by email, by drag drop or entering an email address.
It has a new uploader is called VirusTotal Uploader 2.0. This adds a special command in your Right click context menu, so you can upload files directly.
