Maverick Meerkat , the Ubnutu 10.10 !

The next version of ubuntu will be known as Maverick Meerkat and Ubuntu 10.10 as well.  Like always it will be released on October 2010. Mark Shuttleworth of Ubuntu , announced the name on his blog. He  says: “It’s time to put our heads together to envision “the perfect 10?. This is a time of great innovation and change in the Linux world, with major new initiatives from powerful groups bringing lots of new ideas, new energy and new code.”

The ubuntu developing team is now focusing on Ubuntu 10.10 as the Ubuntu 10.04 is now ready to release. Ubuntu 10.04 will released on 29  April 2010. The new “social flavor” of Ubuntu will get matured in Ubuntu 10.10. Ubuntu Developers focusing on a much light and user friendly Ubuntu. They also have plans to release a new “Netbook” edition for Ubuntu. This decision will really become a benchmark for the product, because sells of Netbooks is increasing very fast. From Mark Shuttleworth’s blog is also quiet clear that Ubuntu is now trying to reach millions of users using some pirated Windows OS because of some unwanted problems like different interface and different working styles. As GNOME 3 is being introduced in Ubuntu 10.10 seems many more will be attracted to this awesome Open Source OS.

What's new in UBUNTU 10.04 ?

The new Ubuntu is coming in April, 2010. There are lots of expectation about the new OS. Let’s have a look what new things will be in Ubuntu 10.04.

Me Menu : This is the most hottest feature of new Ubuntu. It will be the one stop service center of all Social networking and instant messaging services. This menu is specially designed by Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth. Gwibber and Empathy is being integrated to it for great Instant messaging and microblogging experience.

Booting Menu: It can have a new Graphical Boot Menu. It can be end of age old text based booting menu.

Ubuntu Software Center: The Ubuntu Software Center , introduced in 9.10 , will get higher standers in 10.04. It can also repalce the Gdebi, Synapth and Update Manager.

Update: Updating when shutdown in going on was to come in 9.10. But It didn’t. Now It is coimg in 10.04.

Speed: The 10.04 will be able to boot in less than 10 seconds in some machines.

What will not be in 10.04 : Gnome-3 will not be in 10.04. We have to satisfied with Gnome-2.

The new Ubuntu will add a plus point in open Source Computing, It’s sure. It’s also be a LTS (Long time support) edition. Desktop edition will have 3 years of supports, when Server will have 5 years.

Ubuntu kermic Koala is knocking the door…

The latest edition of Open Source Operating System , Ubuntu , will be realized on 29 October this year. The makers of Ubuntu (the huge number of volunteers around the globe) are eagerly waiting for the occasion. The beta edition is already there to download for free.

Canonical has already announced the the name of Ubuntu’s Next edition , The Lucid Lynx. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will ship in April 2010 and is the culmination of significant work in Ubuntu, in Debian and across the free software ecosystem. LTS releases are maintained for five years on the server and three years on the desktop, so they are designed for those who are making larger deployments or who otherwise prefer to have a common platform for an extended period.
